STANFORD, Calif. – Stanford women’s gymnasts Kristina Vaculik and Nicolette McNair were named Pac-12 Gymnast and Newcomer of the Week, respectively, as announced by the conference Tuesday.

The duo helped fuel No. 10 Stanford’s upset victory over No. 4 Utah last Monday and delivered strong showings against No. 9 UCLA on Saturday.

Vaculik was terrific against Utah, claiming the individual victory in the all-around with a 39.475. Perhaps her biggest performance of the meet came when Stanford needed a hit routine in one of its two final performances on floor to defeat the Utes. Vaculik delivered a collegiate-best 9.950 in the anchor position to secure the victory. She also contributed strong scores in the other three events, posting a 9.850 on vault, bars and beam.

Vaculik had a strong meet against UCLA as well, posting a 9.825 on bars to tie for the individual victory and going 9.900 on vault to tie for third.

This is Vaculik’s second Gymnast of the Week this season and is Stanford’s 26th honor all-time.

McNair recorded five top-five finishes in six events this week. McNair had a great meet against Utah, tying for the individual victory on beam with a 9.850. She placed fourth on vault (9.850) and tied her collegiate-best on bars to place fifth (9.875).

McNair continued her strong week at UCLA scoring 9.800 or higher in three events. She placed fifth on vault (9.875) and bars (9.800), and sixth on beam (9.850).

It is the first Newcomer of the Week honor for McNair and the Cardinal’s second of the season.

Stanford will play host to No. 19 California on Monday at 7 p.m. Admission is free and the event will be broadcast on the Pac-12 Network.
