STANFORD, Calif. – Head coach John Kosty has announced the three men’s volleyball players who have signed National Letters of Intent to continue their athletic and academic careers at Stanford University, Friday. Joining the Cardinal in the fall of 2014 will be Kyle Dagostino (Tampa, Fla.), Evan Enriques (Hilo, Hawaii) and Cole Paullin (Manhattan Beach, Calif.).

“We are once again fortunate to have signed three Stanford quality student-athletes,” said Kosty, now in his eighth season at the helm of the program. “These three young men truly understand what makes Stanford University and our athletic program so special, and are extremely enthusiastic to take their opportunities with us and flourish. They will make our program better as volleyball players and maintain our tradition of exceptional citizenship and integrity.

“In Kyle Dagostino and Evan Enriques, we feel that we have two special players at the libero spot. They both come from great volleyball families and are sons of top volleyball coaches. They both also possess innate qualities as players that will make them impact members of our team,” said Kosty. “Kyle and Evan have strong international experience, are very skilled, and are extraordinary winners. Cole Paullin also has many years with USA Volleyball and is one of the top middle prospects for the class of 2014. He is a wonderfully agile athlete with great leaping ability and great intelligence. What we are most excited about Cole is that he has a high ceiling and potential for wonderful growth. The best is yet to come for this young man.”

Dagostino will join the Cardinal as a libero out of Berkeley Preparatory School in Tampa, Fla., where he’s led his team to the district finals in 2010-2011. He was named his team MVP from 2009-11 and tabbed the Middle Division Athlete of the Year in 2010. He’s been a member of the Tampa Bay Invaders since 2008, having secured AAU All-America nods in 2009 and 2010. Most recently, he was a part of the 18 & Under team which was the division champions at the Florida Fest Qualifier and the East Coast Championships, while placing third at the Puerto Rico National Championshps. Dagostino has also been a member of the U.S. Boy’s Youth National Team, finishing 11th at the FIVB World U19 Championships in 2013.

“Kyle is a wonderful athlete that is technically sound in every way,” said Kosty. “He has been one of the top liberos internationally for the past two years. He is an outstanding passer and defender and commands the backcourt with ease. We expect great things from this young man.”

Enriques is a 6-2 libero out of Kamehameha Schools at the Kea’au Campus in Hilo, Hawai’i. Also playing left side in high school, Enriques led his team to the league championship as a sophomore and placed second as a freshman and junior. His squad also was the runner-up at state during his sophomore season, and fourth and fifth as a freshman and junior, respectively. A two-time league player of the year, he was the Hawai’i State Player of the Year and the most outstanding player at the state tournament as a sophomore. He is a member of the USA High Performance Program, playing at camps and invitationals in Arizona, California, Iowa and Wisconsin since 2010. Enriques also played on a junior club volleyball team in Honolulu, competing at the national championships from 2008-12.

“Evan has won at every level he has played. He is one of the big reasons that his Ka Ulukoa Volleyball Club team has won US Junior National Championship gold medal every year he has played since he was a 13 year old – an incredible accomplishment. He has been All-State in Hawai’i since his sophomore season. At 6’1, he is one of nation’s best outside hitters but will concentrate more at the libero position with Kyle. One of Evan’s trademark qualities is that he has an instinct for the game that few possess. He just knows where the ball is going and what to do in all situations.”

Paullin hails from Manhattan Beach, Calif., where he is a middle blocker at Loyola High School. A Defensive Player of the Year as a freshman in 2011, his team won the CIF Southern California Division I Championship in 2012. His squad has also been a two-time runner-up at the CIF Southern Section Championships. Paullin has been a member of Surf Volleyball Club since 2010, and has also competed for Riptides Volleyball Club from 2008-10. Additionally, he has played for the USAV High Performance Indoor and Beach teams.

“Cole brings quickness and explosiveness to the middle position. He is one that we can count on to bring offense at the net,” explained Kosty. “We feel that he can be that relentless frontcourt presence both as a blocker and a hitter that all teams need to disrupt the opponent.

“These young men are the very model of what we expect to have in our program. They will represent our team and our university well in every aspect. We are absolutely thrilled to add Kyle, Evan, and Cole to our Stanford volleyball family.”
