Fleshman was Tough to Catch

Lauren Fleshman ’03, was a 15-time All-American and five-time NCAA champion. She won NCAA outdoor national titles in the 5,000 meters from 2001-03, and claimed NCAA indoor titles in the 3,000 (2002) and the distance medley relay (2000). In cross country, Fleshman won the 2001 Pac-10 individual title and finished among the top five at the NCAA Championships three times. Fleshman was the U.S. 5,000 meter champion in 2006 and 2010, and competed at the IAAF World Championships in 2003, 2005, and 2011. Her seventh place showing in the 2011 world 5,000 final matched the highest finish by an American woman in that event.
