HOW BOWL GAME SEATING WORKS - DEV
November 1, 2014
1. How does Stanford Athletics assign bowl seats?
Each bowl game allocates a fixed number of tickets in pre-determined locations to both of the participating institutions. Depending on the bowl, prime seat locations (such as seats at midfield or in a club level) may or may not be part of the ticket package offered to Stanford. In addition to providing tickets for the two participating institutions, bowl organizations are also committed to making ticket available for annual subscribers in the local community and corporate sponsors.
Stanford allocates its bowl tickets based on the degree to which each ticket purchaser engages with the university. Financial support for Stanford and the athletics program is critical to helping the Cardinal compete for bowl berths and win championships. Other forms of engagement, such as season ticket purchases and volunteer service, are also important. The customer's preferred price level is also taken into account. If seats are unavailable at a customer's preferred price level, his/her order will be fulfilled within the next best available seating level. All tickets are subject to availability.
To ensure that engagement is considered when seats are assigned, customers must login to their existing ticket accounts using the information included in their Deferred Bowl Game Ticket Applications (please see Question 2 for more information).
2. How can I purchase bowl tickets?
Season ticket holders will have an opportunity to request bowl tickets through the online Deferred Bowl Game Ticket Application, which will be sent out after Stanford becomes bowl-eligible. The Deferred Bowl Game Ticket Application includes all possible bowl destinations allowing season ticket holders to request tickets for the bowls they are interested in attending. The application is sent by email* or U.S. mail from Stanford Athletics. Once Stanford's bowl berth is announced on Sunday, December 7, credit cards will be charged. Please note: All Deferred Bowl Game Ticket Applications must be received by Stanford Athletics by Tuesday, December 9, 4:00 p.m. PT.
Based on availability, bowl game tickets will be available for online purchase by the general public on Tuesday, December 9, at 4:00 p.m. PT.
*To ensure you receive the Deferred Bowl Game Ticket Application via email, please make sure you are opted-in to our email marketing database with the email you have associated with your ticket purchases. To opt-in, subscribe to Cardinal AXEcess here.
3. I want to sit with my friends at the bowl game. How can we ensure we will be seated together?
Should Stanford participate in one of the college football playoff bowl games*, individuals will be allowed to purchase up to 10 tickets per account. Due to the high volume of ticket requests Stanford will receive, and the small window of time in which seating will need to be assigned, it will not be possible for groups to request to be seated together.
*Should Stanford participate in a non-college football playoff bowl game, individuals may purchase as many tickets per account as they wish. Stanford fans who would like to seat a large group together are encouraged to submit one order for their group on a single account.
4. How do I check if my bowl ticket request was received?
Log in to your online ticket account. Once logged in, to the right of the page, select the "View Order History" link. If you believe you submitted a request and you do not see it in your order history, please call the Stanford Athletics Ticket Office at (800)-STANFORD. Please have your account number ready to expedite service.
5. Are there refunds or exchanges on bowl tickets?
No, all sales are final.
6. Is handicapped seating available for bowl games?
Yes. By law, stadiums must offer handicapped seating at every price level. If you require handicapped amenities, please note your seating preference on your request for bowl tickets.
7. When can I expect my tickets to arrive?
Depending on the bowl game Stanford is selected for, ticket applications submitted by Tuesday, December 9, at 4:00 p.m. PT are eligible for shipping to home* addresses. Tickets will be shipped via 2-day FedEx on Wednesday, December 17. A confirmation email will be sent on December 17 with shipment tracking information. Ticket applications submitted after December 9 at 4:00 p.m. PT must be picked up at the Stanford Stadium Ticket Office or at one of several Will Call sites in the bowl city. If Stanford is selected for a December bowl game, tickets will be sent via email as "Print at Home."
*Please note: Tickets will not be shipped to a Post Office box. If your address includes a Post Office box, you must contact the Stanford Athletics Ticket Office at (800)-STANFORD or email firstname.lastname@example.org and provide an alternate street address. Customers traveling during the holiday season should include a holiday mailing address during the application process to ensure tickets arrive on time.
