Shaw graduated from Stanford with a bachelor’s degree in sociology and was a four-year letterman in football. A wide receiver, the San Diego native caught 57 passes for 664 yards and five touchdowns. He also competed in a varsity basketball game and a varsity track meet.
Prior to becoming head coach at Stanford, he spent four years as the team’s offensive coordinator under Jim Harbaugh. He also served as the wide receivers coach and passing game coordinator at the University of San Diego and coached in the NFL for nine years.
