Several programs and administrative departments will benefit from the addition, most notably the nationally-ranked football team. No. 5 Stanford will face No. 15 Washington at Stanford Stadium Saturday beginning at 7:30 p.m. (PT).
The football program will begin occupying the building next week. The new and renovated areas provide Stanford’s student-athletes and coaches with a premier building suited to the program’s needs. The 27,000-square foot addition will provide 110 custom lockers for student-athletes as well as a second locker area where Stanford’s many NFL and professional athletes are welcome to return each offseason for workouts.
The locker room is abutted by an equipment room, study lounge (which honors Stanford’s 47 Academic All-Americans), and player lounge honoring Stanford’s current NFL players.
Located above the locker room and lounges are 17 second-floor offices for coaches and support staff, reception lounges, three conference and staff rooms, and eight team meeting rooms.
The Andrew Luck Auditorium is located on the second floor and can accommodate 136 occupants with theatre-style seating.
The bottom level of the building includes an expanded weight room and an athletic training center that features nine offices, work room for the program’s concussion study program, treatment centers and whirlpools. The center is handicap accessible.
As football relocates to its new space, renovations will continue within the Arrillaga Family Sports Center for other programs and administrative areas.
