KANSAS CITY, Kan. -- Stanford junior forward Taylor Uhl was named to the watch list for the Missouri Athletic Club’s Hermann Trophy, the highest honor in collegiate soccer.

Uhl, a transfer from University of Minnesota, tied for the national lead in goals (21) last year and led the country in points (51). She will make her official Cardinal debut on Friday in the season opener at Boston College. In her unofficial debut Saturday, she had a goal and two assists on the team’s first three goals during an 8-0 exhibition victory over Grand Canyon.

Uhl is among 31 players on the women’s watch list. In November, a vote of coaches will narrow the list to 15 semifinalists. At that stage, fans also will have the opportunity to participate in the selection process by voting on the MAC Hermann Trophy Web site.

Eventually, three finalists will be selected and the winners will be announced at a ceremony in January in St. Louis.

Stanford has had three winners in the past four years and 13 Cardinal over the past decade have made the watch list or been semifinalists. Two current players, All-Americas Emily Oliver and Courtney Verloo, have been on previous watch lists.

In 2011, Teresa Noyola became the third consecutive Stanford player to win the Hermann Trophy, following Christen Press in 2010 and Kelley O’Hara in 2009. With Noyola’s victory, Stanford became the first to have three different winners in as many years.
