HARTFORD, Conn. – Stanford men’s gymnastics incoming freshman Akash Modi and alumni Eddie Penev (’13) and Josh Dixon (’11) were named to the U.S. Senior National Team Sunday after competing at the 2013 P&G U.S. Championships.
Penev was also selected as an alternate to the 2013 Men’s World Championships team after finishing 12th in the all-around and placing first on vault.
A total of 10 current and graduated Stanford gymnasts competed at the event in the Senior and Junior Elite divisions.
Modi led the Cardinal with an eighth-place finish in the all-around, placing third on parallel bars and fifth on pommel horse. Dixon finished 10th in the all-around, paced by sixth-place finishes on floor exercise and high bar.
Rising redshirt junior Sean Senters finished 16th in the all-around and tied Penev for the top spot on vault.
Brian Knott placed 20th in the all-around, followed by teammate Chris Turner who finished 21st. Knott recorded 11th-place finishes on parallel bars and high bar, while Turner placed fourth on pommel horse.
Incoming freshman Jordan DeClerk led the Cardinal in the Junior Elite 17-18 division with a sixth-place performance in the all-around. Classmate Taylor Seaton earned the top score on vault and placed 12th in the all-around.
