WATCH Part 1

Stanford men's soccer is eight days away from the official start of its 2013 preseason training camp, and today brings the second of the Cardinal's three-part preview of the upcoming campaign.

The third and final segment will be live next Tuesday, Aug. 13, the day before players report. IN today's segment, Stanford head coach Jeremy Gunn talks about many of the returners taking on increased leadership roles as the Cardinal aims for the NCAA Tournament in 2013.

The group includes newly-minted captain and 2012 All-Pac-12 honorable mention midfielder JJ Koval (two goals, two assists in 2012), All-Pac-12 honorable mention forward Zach Batteer (six goals), Pac-12 Freshman of the Year Aaron Kovar (three goals, two assists) and goalkeeper Drew Hutchins (1.21 goals-against average, five shutouts) marshaling the Stanford defense. This crew sees its first action in a pair of exhibitions against Sonoma State (Aug. 21) and Sacramento State (Aug. 24) before opening the 2013 regular season at Laird Q. Cagan Stadium Friday, Aug. 30 against 2012 College Cup participant Maryland.

Eight of Stanford's matches will be broadcast on the Pac-12 Networks, beginning with Sept. 1's battle with Georgetown. The TV slate also includes six conference matches.
