STANFORD, Calif. – The Stanford sailing team earned a program-best four Inter-Collegiate Sailing Association All-Academic Sailing Team honors, as announced by the organization Friday.
Helena Scutt was named one of nine first team recipients, boasting a 3.75 GPA as a biochemical engineering major. Katie Riklin garnered one of 10 second team honors, carrying a 3.74 GPA studying human biology.
The 2013 All-Academic Sailing Team recognizes collegiate sailors who have achieved excellence in national and inter-conference competition as well as excelling at the highest academic level for the 2012–13 academic year.
The All-Academic Sailing Team was inaugurated in 2006. A nominated sailor must have a minimum of a 3.5 cumulative GPA (on a 4.0 scale), junior or senior academic standing and they must be a key starter or reserve on a school’s sailing team.
This year’s All-Academic Team is comprised of nine first team members, 10 second team members and 32 all-conference members.
