LIMASSOL, Cyprus – Incoming Stanford freshman sailor Marion Lepert will represent the United States at the International Sailing Federation Youth Sailing World Championship July 11-20 in Limassol, Cyprus.
Lepert will compete in the RS:X Girls competition (windsurfing). The regatta is regarded as the world’s leading youth sailing event.
A native of Belmont, Calif., Lepert graduated from Castilleja School in Palo Alto in 2013. She began competing with the U.S. Sailing Development team in 2012.
Lepert finished ninth in the RS:X at the 2013 ISAF Sailing World Cup Miami and third in the Under-21 age group at the 2013 World Championships in Buzios, Brazil (26th overall). She finished first among women at the U.S. Formula Windsurfing Nationals (eighth overall) and at the U.S. Slalom Windsurfing Nationals (19th overall) in Hood River, Ore.
