STANFORD, Calif. - Five past and current Stanford women's water polo standouts were named to the USA Water Polo Senior National Team roster ahead of the 2013 FINA World Championships later this month.
Annika Dries '14, Melissa Seidemann '13 and Maggie Steffens '16 are among eight returners from last year's Olympic Gold Medal-winning roster, and are joined on this year's world championship squad by Kiley Neushul '14 and Lauren Silver '09.
The U.S. roster consists of 14 players, 13 of which will compete at the world championships with one serving as an alternate.
All five Cardinal alumnae were part of the U.S. team that took third at the FINA World League Super Final one month ago in Beijing.The women's water polo tournament at the event will run July 21-August 2 in Barcelona, Spain. The U.S., which finished sixth at last year's world championships, opens competition July 21 against Greece and continues pool play July 23 against Canada and July 25 against Great Britain.
