At Stanford: Fifth-year senior who has earned three varsity letters (1997-99) as the team's long snapper...Snaps on both punts and field goals...Very dependable and consistent snapper...Can also play outside linebacker...A walk-on to the Stanford football program prior to the '96 season.

The 1999 Season: Earned his third varsity letter as the team's long snapper...Also a reserve outside linebacker...His value to the team was apparent in the Rose Bowl when he went out with an injured ankle and the Cardinal subsequently missed an extra point and field goal due to bad snaps.

The 1998 Season: Stanford's long snapper for the second straight season.

The 1997 Season: Earned a letter as the team's long snapper...Did not play as a reserve outside linebacker.

The 1996 Season: Redshirted the '96 season.

In High School: Played linebacker and center at Reno High School in Nevada...Second-Team All-State center following his junior season...Also named First-Team All-Academic...Missed half of his senior season due to injuries...Competed in wrestling as a senior, compiling a 37-1 record before injuries cut his season short...Participated in track for three year in high school...Events included the 100m, 200m, shot put and discus...Class president for four years...Participated in the D.A.R.E. (Drug Abuse Resistance Education) Program.

Personal Information: Economics major...Father, John, was a three-year letter-winner at Stanford from 1968-70...John, Sr., was the starting center for Jim Plunkett on Stanford's 1971 Rose Bowl championship team...The Sandes are the only father-son combination in Stanford history to play in the Rose Bowl for the Cardinal.
