Friday night was our first home meet of the season! It was fantastic: there's nothing quite like the rush of adrenaline you get competing on your own turf, with all of your family and friends supporting you! Everyone looked great it was especially awesome to see so many freshmen contributing to the lineup. Starting on vault, Liz electrified the crowd with a huge Yurchenko Full. Coming back from an injury, Tabitha exhibitioned an absolutely gorgeous bar set. Next, on beam, Lauren started off the event with a beautiful, aggressive routine. Steph was the highlight of floor, with all three passes stuck cold...the audience began chanting "10! 10! 10!" Finally, Alex consistently worked her way through the meet to take the all-around title. In addition, Glyn and Stacy were looking simply stunning, highlighted by Glyn's fabulous bar set and Stacy's clean and consistent beam routine. Despite several unfortunate injuries on the team, everyone stepped it up to defeat the OSU Beavers! Yeah Card!
Looking back at last week, we traveled to Washington (a.k.a. the BEST state ever...my home state!) to compete against the Huskies in our first meet of the year. Our squad looked great, and we had a lot of fun. After getting out a few first-meet-of-the-season jitters, we had a great competition, and were definitely excited for our next chance to show our stuff!
In addition to a fun meet at UW, we were able to visit my house in Woodinville (about 45 minutes from Seattle) for dinner. My parents really outdid themselves. Not only did they decorate the house in Cardinal colors, but they prepared an absolutely delectable feast! Needless to say, after a whole lot of Pacific Northwest salmon, we were all STUFFED! We really had an awesome time. Thanks Mom and Dad!
Hope you are all having a great week! GO CARD!!!
