2013 Season: Indoors - Placed seventh at the MPSF Championships at a season-best 16-4 ... made his collegiate debut at the Cherry & Silver Invitational in Albuquerque, clearing 15-9 ... competed in five meets.

High School: Two-time Arizona state champ ... set personal record 17-0 while winning the Chandler City Meet ... won Arizona state Division I titles in 2011 and 2012, the latter at 16-6 ... won the 2011 Arizona Meet of Champions and was second in 2012, at 16-5 ... placed seventh at 2012 U.S. junior championships ... set a state junior-class record of 16-1 1/4.

Personal: Son of Dean Starkey ... father won the bronze medal at the 1997 World Championships in the pole vault, and had a best of 19-5 ... he also coached pole vault at Cal Poly-San Luis Obispo ... stepmother is the former Jill Wittenwyler, who competed in the 2000 Olympic trials in the pole vault, and had a best of 14-1 1/4 ... she coached multi-events at South Dakota State ... parents run the Arizona Pole Vault Academy on their Queen Creek property ... has two younger sisters, Taylor and Tyra.
