International Competition: Competed for the Hong Kong at the World University Games in China in 2011... swam for Hong Kong at the 2009 World Championships in Rome, competing in the 50, 100 and 200 backstroke.... swam at the Santa Clara Invite in the summer of 2010, reaching the C Finals of the 50 free and 100 free and B Final of the 100 back.

2011-12 (Senior): Finished off his career with his best career showing at NCAAs, earning his first three All-America honors, in the 100 fly as well as the 200 and 400 free relays... likely would have also scored points in the 100 free, if not disqualified... swam 15th in the 100 fly (46.95) after a 46.92 prelim... part of fifth place 400 free and 200 free relays, swimming the anchor legs on both... at Pac-12's, won the Pac-12 title in the 200 free relay, swimming the anchor leg... was tenth in the 100 free and 11th in the 50 free... during the regular season won the 100 free in a dual meet with Hawaii as well as the Pacific Invite... had the third-fastest combined time in the tri-distance meet with Cal in the 50, 100 and 200 freestyles... second against USC in the 50 free (20.22) and Cal (19.98) on consecutive days in Los Angeles... honorable mention all-Pac-12.

2010-2011 (Junior): Swam a best of 19.90 in the 50 free and 43.76 in the 100 free in early March... won the 50 and 100 free at Arizona State... second in the 100 back at the Pacific dual meet and third in the 200 back against CS Bakersfield... third in the 100 back at the Long Beach Arena Invite in the fall.

2009-2010 Season (Sophomore): Swam a best of 48.34 in the 100 back, 19.97 in the 50 free and 43.89 in the 100 free at the Pac-10 Championships placed fourth in the 200 backstroke, for a season-best time of 1:48.22 and fifth in the 100 backstroke at the Toshiba Classic... also swam the third leg of the 200 free relay that placed third at the NCAA Championships.

2008-09 Season (Freshman): Swam bests of 49.53 in the 100 back, 1:47.73 in the 200 Back at the Texas A&M Invite, November 2008. Swam a best time of 20.28 in the 50 Free at the Austin Grand Prix, March 2009.

High School: Competed in the 2007 FINA World Swimming Championships in Melbourne, Australia...2006 and 2007 Hong Kong Swimming Coaches Association male swimmer of the year...2007 Outstanding Male Swimmer at the Hong Kong age-group short-course swimming championships...competed in the 2007 Macau Asian Indoor Games and earned bronze medals in both the 50- and 100-meter short-course back...in 2006, competed in the Asian Games in Doha, Qatar and was a finalist in the 200 back...Hong Kong record holder in the 50 free, 50 back, and 100 back...Hong Kong junior record holder in the 50 back, 100 back, and 200 back.

Personal: Majoring in earth systems...parents are James Fan and Kathryn Cheah...born in London, England.
