Frank Ustach
Position: Assistant Coach (Boston College '05) - 2nd year

Ustach spent the 2009-10 and 2010-11 seasons with the Cardinal, his first as a varsity assistant. In 2009-10, the Cardinal competed at all three national championships, one of only three teams to do so in the nation. they did it again in 2010-11. It also won all three Pacific Coast Collegiate Sailing Conference titles in both seasons as an assistant.

Ustach, a 2005 Boston College graduate, brings a year of leadership as team captain (2004-2005) as well as a wealth of college-sailing specific knowledge, especially team racing, to the Stanford program.

A native of Hull, Mass., Ustach has privately coached some of the top junior sailors in the country to a 420 North American championship, a U.S. Youth Championship, selection to the U-18 U.S. Sailing Team, and several ISSA National appearances. Most recently, Frank comes to Stanford from Chicago Yacht Club, where he served as Director of Sailing and Head Coach for the past two years.

Ustach's own sailing accomplishments and pursuits include a 49er campaign for the 2008 Olympic games, where he finished 8th at the U.S. Olympic Trials, and was selected to represent the U.S. at the 2007 ISAF World Games held in Cascais, Portugal. Ustach also actively competes on the highly competitive U.S. team racing circuit, where his team, the Woonsocket Rockets, finished 3rd at the 2007 U.S. Team Race Championship for the Hinman Trophy.
