STANFORD, Calif. - The Stanford University women's lacrosse team heads to Japan for an 11-day trip to promote the growth of lacrosse internationally, create cross-cultural ties, and to develop as lacrosse players. The Cardinal's trip will last from December 13-24, with the highlight of the excursion being a contest versus the Japanese National Team at a tournament organized for various Japanese colleges and All-Star teams.
The Cardinal, under fourth-year Head Coach Michele Uhlfelder have posted an overall record of 38-16 (.704), and have become the first west coast team to garner a top 20 national ranking. In 2003, Stanford finished the season with a 14-4 overall record and a No. 15 final national ranking.
The Cardinal, who have won its conference the past three seasons, will join the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation in 2004. Stanford opens its season on February 14, 2004 when it hosts the UC Davis Aggies.
