Adam Norton Named Lacrosse Assistant Coach

Stanford women's lacrosse head coach Michele Uhlfelder has announced the addition of Adam Norton as an assistant coach.

Norton, a four-year letter winner (1994-1997) with Dickinson college, will continue his coaching career at Stanford University after spending the 2007 season as a volunteer assistant coach. Norton will continue to bring his goalkeeping expertise to the sidelines as well as work with the Cardinal midfield, and shooters. Before coming to Stanford, Norton ran the Core 4 Goalie School, in Washington D.C.

"I am looking forward to the energy that our new staff brings," said Uhlfelder. Adam brings the ability to se the game from the goal out. This is a tremendous asset to our staff and we are excited to use his abilities as a goalkeeper coach, as well as assisting in all facets of the program. As a volunteer assistant coach this past year, Adam spent the year becoming acquainted with Stanford Lacrosse. Now I am excited for him to step up into a full time position and be a key contributor to our year. He understands our competitive goals, and I am excited to welcome his enthusiasm for Stanford and for our student athletes."

A native of Washington, DC, Norton was team captain for Dickinson College in 1997 and was an honorable mention All-American in that same year. In his 1996 season, he had the most saves of any Division III athlete in one game when he stopped 39 shots. Norton has also coached numerous club teams near his hometown, most recently he was a goalie coach for the Capital girl's lacrosse club.

"I am thrilled and honored to take on the role of Assistant Coach at Stanford!" said Norton. "This is an exciting time to be in women's lacrosse and what better place to be as a coach that "The Home of Champions." Stanford Lacrosse is a fantastic group of talented scholar-athletes, and I look forward to sharing my knowledge and passion for the game with them."

Norton also has experience in the financial world, as he was a financial advisor for Legg Mason Wood Walker from 2000-04. He also was the ambassador for the Greater Washington Board of Trade from 2000-05.
