Yelsey will also play in the singles consolation quarterfinals, after posting a three-set victory over Georgia's Natalie Frazier, the 16th-ranked player in the nation.

In Tempe, the Cardinal did not fare as well, as sophomore Whitney Deason, the top-seeded singles player at the ASU Thurnderbird Invitational won her opening match, but lost her second round match. Fellow sophomore Celia Durkin withdrew in the first round due to injury. And in doubles, the Deason-Durkin pair dropped its opening round match.
