Cardinal Falls In Big Splash

STANFORD, Calif. - The Cardinal finished it's home schedule with a 6-10 loss to California in the 36th Big Splash. Stanford senior Sean Joy led the team with 3 goals, and tops the team for the season with 33 goals. Ranked second in the nation, the Cardinal's record now stands at 19-4 overall and 7-2 MPSF (Mountain Pacific Sports Federation).

The fourth-ranked Golden Bears lead the Big Splash series, 22-14, despite losing the last six matches with the Cardinal. The Bears were awarded the first Steve Heaston Award, in memory of the former Cal coach who passed away in July. The Heaston Award will now be given annually to the winner of Big Splash.

Stanford freshman Nick Ellis tallied 4 saves in goal. Three Cardinal players each added one goal, seniors Brian Heifferon and Peter Hadnut, along with sophomore Onno Koelman.

The Cardinal travels to Irvine for the MPSF Tourney, November 26-28, time to be announced.
