This week's action...
The sixth ranked Stanford women's gymnastics team will head to Seattle, WA this weekend to challenge top-ranked UCLA for the Pac-10 Championship. Stanford's only dual meet loss of the season came earlier this year against the Bruins in Maples Pavilion. The Cardinal then made a run, taking wins in its next seven meets - four against conference rivals. All seven Pac-10 teams are currently ranked in the top 25, with three (including Stanford) in the top 10. The Cardinal has one of the conference's six top 25 All-Arounders with Lindsay Wing in third place. The conference also claims eight top-ranked gymnasts on the bars and floor, five on beam and four on vault. The Pac-10 Championships will be an exciting prelude to the NCAA Championships. The NCAA Regionals will be on Apr. 7, followed by the Championships in Athens, GA on April 19-21. The Pac-10 Championships will be aired on Fox Sports Bay Area on Sat., March 31 at 2 p.m.

The Cook File...
Stanford head coach Mark Cook is now in his fourth year at the helm of the Cardinal women's gymnastics program. In his first three seasons, Cook has guided Stanford to the 1998 Pac-10 Championship and an appearance in the 1999 NCAA Championships. Cook has produced the Card's first-ever individual National Champion, three Regional Champions and seven All-Americans, while Stanford gymnasts have established nearly every school record under his tenure.

A Cardinal Tint to the National Rankings...
After a week-long break, Stanford was pushed into the No. 6 spot nationally while still retaining the No. 2 spot in the West Region behind national leader UCLA. The Cardinal is ranked in the top 10 in all four individual events and has at least one gymnast ranked in the top 25 nationally for each event. Lindsay Wing remains the No. 1 gymnast in the West Region, claiming third nationally for the All-Around with a 39.475. Freshman sensation Wing ranks in three individual events: she is tied for sixth on the beam (9.915), tied for 19th on floor (9.910) and tied for 20th on vault (9.880). Wing leads all Pac-10 gymnasts at third in the All-Around, but is followed by five women from Arizona, Arizona State and Washington. Senior Jen Exaltacion is in a tie for 4th on the beam with a 9.920. Freshman Caroline Fluhrer rounds out the impressive list, capturing the 11th spot on bars with a 9.920. With six Pac-10 gymnasts ranked in the top 25, the championships will prove to be an intense competition.

Regular Season Wrap-Up...
Stanford closed out the regular season against BYU in Provo, Utah. The Cardinal triumphed over the Cougars for the second straight weekend to improve its record to 7-1 in overall dual meets. The win marked its seventh consecutive victory. Jen Exaltacion and Caroline Fluhrer finished in a tie for first place in the All-Around with a 39.375. Fluhrer finished with a meet-high 9.950 as she took first place on bars. Stanford swept the top three spots on beam with Exaltacion taking first (9.925), Lindsay Wing claiming second (9.875) and Fluhrer nabbing third (9.850).

Stellar Stars...
The Cardinal gymnasts have been shining throughout the season. Freshman Lindsay Wing has captured the nation's No. 3 spot in the All-Around after an incredible rookie season. She was named Pac-10 Gymnast of the Week on Feb. 6 after posting a 39.625 AA score against Minnesota to help the team set a new school record for overall score (197.425). Wing continued to improve, recording a 39.750 on Mar. 3 against BYU to close out Stanford's home season. Jen Exaltacion finished her senior campaign at BYU with an exclamation tying for first in the All-Around and taking the top spot on beam. Caroline Fluhrer and Robin Phelps compiled remarkable freshman seasons. Fluhrer ranks 11th in the country on bars and leads the Cardinal with a 9.920 season average and a 9.950 season-high score (Wing and Exaltacion also posted a 9.950 on bars).
