Moraga, CA - The Stanford Women's lacrosse team traveled to St. Mary's today to deliver the Gaels a 12-8 loss. This victory puts the Cardinal at 2-0 overall and 2-0 in the Mountain Pacific League. St. Mary's currently stands at 0-2 overall, 0-2 MPLL.
After Stanford's 8-0 league record and fourth-consecutive league championship in 2001, it joined St. Mary's, UC Davis, California and Denver in forming the new MPLL - to ensure that all five schools would face any varsity squads and they would be guaranteed a stronger schedule.
Stanford opens its home season this weekend, taking on the pre-season #10 Syracuse Orangewomen, in the 1st Annual deBeer's East/West Challenge. The game starts at noon on Maloney Field, tickets are $3 general admission, $1 with student ID.
