PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Competing at Brown University, in the last major Women's intersectional regatta before all eyes turn to the National Championship (University of Hawaii May 28-31), the Stanford Women's sailors earned eighth place overall in the 17-school fleet at the Dellenbaugh Intersectional.

A Division Skipper Jen Porter'04 and crews Jess Gray'04 and Sarah Zukerman'03 fell from a third place position early Saturday to ninth in A at the end of the regatta.

Likewise, B Division team Ashley Frush'04 and crew Liz Shearer'04 /Jess Gray '04 had a strong start in the first races on Saturday morning. However, when the steady seabreeze conditions gave way to a light and flukey north westerly on Sunday, the Cardinal women had a hard time keeping up their top five finishes. After Saturday, the Stanford women sat in fifth place overall, Sunday's tough conditions saw them drop to ninth.

Not deterred, the conditions at Nationals are expected to be the seabreeze conditions that will favor the Cardinal Women's team. The next stop for the women is next weekend's Pacific Coast Women's Championships, to be held at USC, where the top two teams will earn berths to Nationals.
