Stanford Triumphs Over USC in Rematch

Despite losing the doubles point on Friday afternoon, the top-ranked Cardinal captured its 65th straight dual-match win agasint No. 4 USC this afternoon at Marks Stadium. Stanford is now 9-0 on the season while the Trojans fall to 5-1.

At the No.1 singles slot, Amber Liu, the two-time defending NCAA singles champion and two-time Player of the Year battled Lindsey Nelson. Liu struggled, but with three-set comeback wins finished victorious.

Luana Magnani was the lone Trojan to steal a win from the Cardinal. She bested Whitney Deason 7-5 and 6-3. No.10 ranked Cardinal Theresa Logar finished first with her win against No.3 Amanda Fink by default.

Stanford will return to action next Friday and Saturday when they travel up to the Pacific Northwest to challenge the Washington State Cougars and the Huskies from the University of Washington.
