STANFORD, Calif. - Chiney Ogwumike of the Stanford women's basketball team was voted Muscle Milk Athlete of the Week for Nov. 12-18 by the Stanford Athletic Communication office.

It is the first Muscle Milk weekly honor this season for the women's basketball team, and the second of Ogwumike's career.

Ogwumike earned espnW National Player of the Week and Pac-12 Player of the Week honors Monday after she was named Jack in the Box Rainbow Wahine Classic MVP this past weekend, highlighted by No. 4/4 Stanford's 71-69 victory Friday night over No. 1/1 Baylor on its way to the tournament title. Friday's win, in which Ogwumike scored 18 points on 8-for-14 shooting with eight rebounds, snapped defending national champion Baylor's 42-game winning streak, and was followed by wins of 69-42 and 92-68 over host Hawai'i and Tennessee-Martin, respectively.

The win over Baylor as well as the tournament title lifted Stanford to the No. 1 spot in Monday's Associated Press Poll, marking the fourth time overall and first since March 2005 that the Cardinal has held the nation's top ranking.

She followed Friday's performance with double-doubles in victories over host Hawai'i and Tennessee-Martin. Against Hawai'i Saturday night, Ogwumike scored 15 points and matched her season high with 17 rebounds, then turned in a 25-point, 10-rebound effort and 12-of-16 shooting performance in Sunday's win over the Skyhawks.

The consensus national player of the year candidate and preseason All-American is averaging 20.6 points and 11.8 rebounds while shooting a scorching 64.7 percent from the field over Stanford's 5-0 start to the campaign.

The Cardinal hosts Long Beach State Sunday, Nov. 25 at 2 p.m. Stanford currently owns a national-best 80-game home winning streak at Maples Pavilion.
