Last Year At The Indoor Championships . . .
Day One
The Stanford men's distance medley relay team finished first at the 2001 NCAA Championships for its second consecutive national title in that event. The team of Donald Sage, Mark Hassell, Jonathan Stevens and Gabe Jennings crossed the finish line in a time of 9:30.01, marking the second fastest time on Stanford's all-time list behind the 2000 World Record performance of 9:28.83 set at the 2000 Championships. That same day, Jennings qualified for the finals in the mile by winning his preliminary heat in 3:59.75. In that same heat, Sage finished sixth in 4:05.35. Other Cardinal athletes competing in the prelims included Lauren Fleshman, who qualified for the final in the women's mile with a time of 4:43.69, and Lindsay Hyatt finished fourth in the prelims of the 800 meters in 2:10.09. Lindsay Hyatt, Louis Luchini and Grant Robison have all earned two honors, and sophomore Seth Hejny gained All-American status at last year's NCAA Indoor Championships by placing ninth in the 3,000 meters.
