Stanford, Calif. - 15th-ranked Stanford women's lacrosse (10-3, 3-0 MPLL) will close out the 2003 regular home season on Wednesday, April 23rd against California (10-4, 3-0 MPLL) at 7 p.m. on Maloney Field. Stanford will honor seniors Lauren Dietrich and Virginia Solomon before the match. The contest will also decide the regular season Mountain Pacific Lacrosse League (MPLL) title, while the conference tournament will be held at Stanford on May 3rd and 4th.
Stanford posted three road wins before returning home this weekend and falling to No. 1 Loyola. The Greyhounds left The Farm still undefeated while the Cardinal dropped its third game of the season, although each of the three losses have been to teams ranked in the top-three. Sophomore Kelsey Twist is leading the Cardinal this season with 30 goals and 19 assists, while freshman Megan Burker has tallied 25 goals and 12 assists. In the net, junior Christina Saikus has picked up 122 saves in her 12 games.
California is led by junior attacker Colleen O'Mara with 39 points (19 goals, 20 assists), while Emily Edwards is atop the team standings in goals scored with 29. This is the last game for the Golden Bears before they face off at the MPLL Tournament.
