HOUSTON, Tex.-- Stanford offensive tackle Jonathan Martin was named one of four finalists for the Lombardi Award.
During his career, Martin has paved the way for the Cardinal to produce some of the top rushers in school-history in Heisman runner-up Toby Gerhart and current running back Stepfan Taylor. He has also helped protect quarterback and Heisman favorite Andrew Luck, who has been sacked just 16 times in three seasons, including just four times this season.
Martin joins Alabama's Dont'a Hightower and Courtney Upshaw along with Boston College's Luke Kuechly on the final list. All four players will be in Houston for two days prior to the Award Show on December 7 at the Reliant Center.
The Lombardi Award is given to the nation's top lineman, who best exemplifies the spirit of Vince Lombardi.
