Las Vegas, Nev. - Stanford swept the titles at the Freeman Memorial Women's Tennis Championships at the Fertitta Tennis Complex on the campus of UNLV today, as sophomore Celia Durkin won the singles title and Alice Barnes and Anne Yelsey posted a pair of victories to claim the doubles championship.
Durkin scored a 6-2, 6-0 win over UCLA's Laura Gordon on Sunday to win the top-flight singles title. In doubles, top-seeded Barnes and Yelsey won by default against USC's Anca Anastasiu and Judy Devera in the semifinals before posting a 9-7 victory over second-seeded Kady Pooler and Roxanne Clarke of Arizona State.
Stanford will be back in action in two weeks, as the Cardinal hosts Hawai'i and Fresno State on Jan. 26 and 27, respectively.
