STANFORD, Calif. - Defender Ali Riley and forward Kelley O'Hara are among 30 candidates for Lowe's Senior CLASS Award, which is awarded to one senior in each of nine collegiate sports, who excels both on and off the field.
The award takes into account academic and athletic excellence, as well leadership, character and community service.
Ten finalists will be determined at the end of September. Those players will then be placed on a ballot for a nationwide vote that will take place between Oct. 5-Nov. 13. The winner will be announced at the College Cup in College Station, Texas, Dec. 4-6.
Riley and O'Hara are co-captains for the Cardinal, which reached the NCAA College Cup semifinals last season and is ranked No. 4 in the country.
This is the third year of the award for women's soccer. Portland's Stephanie Lopez won in 2007 and Notre Dame's Kerri Hanks won last year.
