STANFORD, Calif.- Stanford was well represented with a conference-best seven players named to the 2012-13 Pac-12 All-Academic team, as announced today by Commissioner Larry Scott.
For the fourth consecutive season under head coach Johnny Dawkins, Stanford totaled the most selections of any conference school.
John Gage and Robbie Lemons were named to the first team, while Andy Brown, Stefan Nastic, Dwight Powell and Chasson Randle were recognized as second team picks. Anthony Brown earned honorable mention accolades.
To be eligible for selection to the Pac-12 All-Academic team, a student-athlete must maintain a minimum 3.0 overall grade-point average and be either a starter or significant contributor. The Pac-12 All-Academic regulations define a "starter or significant substitute" as having participated in 50 percent of a team's scheduled contests, except in unusual circumstances, such as injury.
Anthony Brown participated in Stanford's first four games before missing the remainder of the year with a hip injury. Brown, who was averaging 3.0 points and 2.3 rebounds prior to the injury, is expected to return for the 2013-14 campaign as a redshirt junior.
Highlighting the two-time recipients is Gage, who earned first-team honors for the second straight year. Anthony Brown, Nastic and Powell were also recognized for the second time in their careers, with all three players receiving honorable mention status in 2012.
Andy Brown, Lemons and Randle were honored for the first time in their careers.
Stanford has produced 54 all-time All-Academic selections, the most of any conference school since the inception of the award in 1985-86. Washington State ranks second, having totaled 28 honorees.
