STANFORD, Calif. - Allyse Ishino, the senior who shined the brightest on Senior Day, took home Pacific-10 Conference Gymnast of the Week honors for her performances during Stanford's quad meet victories over North Carolina, Eastern Michigan and California on Sunday at Maples Pavilion.
Ishino earned her first collegiate all-around victory during the team's final home meet of the season. Ishino won the uneven bars (9.875) and balance beam (9.825) and set her collegiate career high on floor exercise (9.875) on the way to scoring 39.450 points in the third all-around competition of her collegiate career.
Ishino is having her best season at Stanford. She's healthy and has added a vibrant floor routine that she choreographed herself. She had never competed on the floor or in the all-around at Stanford until Feb. 14.
"She's really put it all together," Smyth said. "Just having her on all four events is a real blessing, and to do so as well as she has is phenomenal. She's battled back time and time again."
Ishino has been remarkably consistent on the vault, scoring 9.8 or higher in all eight meets. Her bars routines are even better -- she was a 2009 regional champion.
