STANFORD, Calif. - Stanford's 2001 spring practice came to a conclusion today as the Cardinal team scored three touchdowns to defeat the White 21-0 in the annual Cardinal-White Scrimmage at Stanford Stadium.
Sophomore Teyo Johnson, who came to Stanford as a quarterback but began working out at wide receiver this past Monday, caught two touchdown passes, including a 36-yard Hail Mary on the game's final play. Johnson caught three passes for 68 yards on the day.
Johnson, who also plays on Stanford's nationally-ranked basketball team, will continue working as both a quarterback and wide receiver. Today, he caught a 14-yard touchdown pass from sophomore quarterback Ryan Eklund and a 36-yard TD from junior Chris Lewis.
The other touchdown came on a four-yard run by Kerry Carter, capping an eight-play, 65-yard drive.
Offensively, Randy Fasani, who finished the spring as the team's No. 1 quarterback, completed eight-of-14 for 104 yards. Lewis threw for 89 yards and one TD on eight-of-17 while Eklund was five-for-eight for 48 yards and one TD.
Carter was the leading rusher on the day with six carries for 29 yards while running mate Brian Allen carried four times for 24 yards.
