STANFORD, Calif. - Matt Doyle has been named the 2012 FootballScoop Director of Football Operations of the Year, as announced recently by FootballScoop.com. Doyle was one of three finalists for the award, which is voted upon by previous winners.
"Matt keeps Stanford football organized," Bradford M. Freeman Director of Football David Shaw said. "From budgets and schedules to spring practices and summer jobs, and from game one through our third BCS bowl game in a row, Matt keeps our coaches and players informed, in line and in position to be successful."
Doyle is in his 13th season with the Stanford program and sixth as Assistant Athletic Director and Director of Football Operations.
Doyle oversees the day-to-day operations of the Cardinal program, ranging from overall management of the football budget, team travel and bowl game coordination. Doyle works closely with the university faculty and staff and the athletic department's facilities, marketing, media relations and development offices. He also serves as a liaison to professional scouts and player agents.
Doyle currently serves on the Rose Bowl Game Advisory Committee, the Pac-12 Championship Game Committee and is a member of the AFCA Football Operations National Committee. He also serves on the board of directors for the Fit Kids Foundation, a non-profit organization devoted to after-school fitness programs in low-income schools.
In nominating Doyle, several other football operations staff noted that Doyle played a significant effort in facilitating the housing project for Stanford's coaches over the past few years, is charged annually with ensuring most of the players have appropriate housing during the summer term and has masterfully handled multiple coaching staff transitions.
Doyle will receive his award and be recognized at an event at the AFCA Convention in January. Previous winners of the Director of Football Operations of the Year award are Tom Deahn (Temple, 2009), Mike Kerin (West Virginia, 2010) and Mike Sinquefield (TCU, 2011).
A 1998 graduate and of UC Davis, Doyle was an outfielder for the Aggies baseball team and later earned a master's degree in sport management from the University of San Francisco.
Matt and his wife, Hillary, reside in Redwood City with their children, Catherine and Matthew.
