STANFORD, Calif. - Nicole Barnhart, Jennifer Farenbaugh and Hayley Hunt of the Stanford women's soccer team will travel to China from March 17-29 to compete with the United States Under-21 National Team.
"I am very excited about this upcoming international trip to China," Barnhart said. "This will be my first time traveling to China and it will be a great experience not only for the soccer, but also for the cultural experience."
The three Cardinal are scheduled to visit Shanghai and Huai'an Jiangsu to compete in 3-4 games potentially against the Shanghai Women's Team, the Jiangsu Women's Team, the China Women's Team and the China Women's Youth Team.
"International trips always prove to be very beneficial for us as a team because we have the opportunity to perform at a different level of competition and style of play from what we are used to here in the states," Barnhart said. "These trips also provide such an exciting arena for soccer in general; the atmosphere and the environment in which we play is unimaginable, and is always an unique experience because the people have such a great passion for the game."
Barnhart, Farenbaugh and Hunt have already been training in several U-21 camps in the past months in Los Angeles, Calif., at the Home Depot Center.
Stanford's Rachel Buehler, who has participated in two U-19 training camps recently, has returned from a trip to Mexico where the U.S. U-19 National Team faced the Mexican National Team.
