STANFORD, Calif. - The Stanford University women's gymnastics team will hold its Sips and Swings event this Saturday, December 13, from 4-7 pm at Burnham Pavilion. This event is a fine evening of wine tasting and gymnastics, hosted by Gourmet Magazine's Michael Green.
A silent auction and an exhibition by the No. 6 nationally ranked Stanford women's gymnastics team will be held in conjunction with this event. The Cardinal's No. 6 ranking is the highest preseason ranking in program history.
To join the Cardinal and other supporters of the program for an evening of fine wine tasting and an exhibition by student-athletes that could be on the next summer Olympic team, contact Head Coach Kristen Smyth (650-725-6143) for further information on tickets. Tickets are $50 per person, with special group rates available. Childcare will be provided at a cost of $25 for one child and $5 for each additional child.
The Cardinal, who return six All-Americans, open the season by hosting San Jose State, Sacramento State and Central Michigan in the Stanford Quadrangular on January 9, 2004. Stanford's home schedule consists of three meets with preseason top 25 opponents. The Cardinal will host No. 17 Arizona on January 23, No. 15 Washington on January 30, and No. 21 California on February 20.
