STANFORD, Calif. - Stanford senior Nicole Pechanec has been named Pac-12 Gymnast of the Week for her performance in Stanford's Senior Day tri-meet victory over Arizona and Cal on Sunday.
Pechanec won the all-around with a collegiate career best of 39.450 points to help the Cardinal to a season-high point total of 196.575. Arizona scored 195.025 and Cal 191.450.
Pechanec's 9.925 on bars was one of five Stanford scores of 9.9 or above during a meet in which the Cardinal (9-3) won every event. Pechanec, the senior from Kenilworth, N.J., also placed second on floor (9.900) and beam (9.800), and was fourth on vault (9.825).
Pechanec tied season bests on three events and set or tied two career bests, including the all-around, improving on her previous best of 39.325 from the UCLA dual meet on Feb. 5.
Pechanec is a two-time all-conference selection and a two-time conference All-Academic choice. This is her second weekly award from the conference after earning Pac-10 Special Performance of the Week honors last year.
