STANFORD, Calif.-- As voted on by their fellow teammates quarterback Andrew Luck and corner back Michael Thomas have been named co-captains for the 2011 football season.
The two Texas natives entered Stanford four years ago, competing against one another in the Houston area as quarterbacks. Luck was the Heisman runner-up on the offensive end of the ball, Thomas was the team's starting corner back for the 2010 Orange Bowl Champions.
Bradford M. Freeeman Director of Football David Shaw first tweeted the news Wednesday night on his twitter feed, @coachdavidshaw “Congrats to the men voted by our team to be Team Captains for the 2011 Season: Andrew Luck & Michael Thomas! #GoStanford!”

Stanford opens its season on Saturday, September 3 when it hosts San Jose State at 2 p.m in the Bill Walsh Legacy Game live on Comcast Sportsnet Bay Area with Scott Reiss and Mike McLaughlin calling the action.
