Sophomore Brooke Bishop (Los Altos, CA/Mountain View HS) of the Stanford Women's Swimming and Diving Team was selected as the Stanford/MET-Rx Student-Athlete of the Week for the week of Oct. 25-Oct. 31.
Bishop led Stanford's fourth-ranked women's swimming and diving team to a convincing 192-156 victory over seventh-ranked Texas by winning six events (four individual, two relays). Bishop won the 50 and 100 free, as well as the 100 and 200 back on her own, while combining with teammates on wins in the 200 and 400 medley relays. Her best performance came in the 200 back, where she recorded an NCAA "A" qualifying time of 1:56.75 that tied her for fifth on Stanford's all-time performer list in the event and smashed her previous career-best (1:59.20).
This is Bishop's first Stanford/MET-Rx Student-Athlete of the Week honor. Bishop and the rest of the Cardinal Women's Swimming and Diving Team will be back in action at the Big West Shootout in Irvine on November 4.
