HEAD COACH MARK MARQUESS
"We are thrilled to be here, obviously. It is great to be in postseason play, and it is great to be at the University of Texas. They do have a great program and tradition, and we are just really excited to be here. For us, it has been a rocky road. We started off pretty well and then struggled at one stage during the season. We have really started to play well and put it together in the last 20-25 games."
On possibly playing the University of Texas again in the regional
"They always have a good team. Even if they are young and inexperienced they have a very rich tradition, and that is why we like to play them [in the regular season]. It is a measuring stick for where we need to improve or get better. Last year, we came here and got swept by Texas, and it was actually pretty good for us. We learned a lot. We always have good games with them, but for our program it is a great measuring stick. Obviously we are familiar with them, which is the good news. And the bad news is the same, that we are familiar with them."
On maintaining a program at an elite level
"Number one, you have to get good players. What we all realize now is the parity in college baseball. The key is to get good pitching. You have to pitch. It never changes. Good pitching gets good hitting out. For us, we have been very fortunate with a good tradition and good athletes. Also, we have a very good schedule. It rewards you to play good people. That is the key that has helped us."
JUNIOR PITCHER GREG REYNOLDS
On opening round opponent North Carolina State
"I think that they are a pretty strong hitting group all the way around. They can definitely swing the bat. In the ACC, that is what you are going to find. I am not as worried about them as much as me pitching my game plan and focusing on my strengths rather than going out there and thinking of their weaknesses."
