Stanford, Calif. - Stanford improved to 28-0 on the year and earned a spot in Sunday's semifinals with a 4-0 victory over Duke in the quarterfinals tonight at the Taube Tennis Center. Rain forced the earlier quarterfinal matches to the indoor courts at the San Francisco Tennis Center, but cooperative weather and a hard-working staff were able to get the courts at the Taube Tennis Center dry in time to start the evening's matches just three hours late.

Since the match ended up being played at the Taube Tennis Center, Stanford was able to increase its home win streak to 105 matches, while its overall streak now stands at 84 consecutive victories. And despite the rain delay, fans made the trip to The Farm, and the Stanford-proud crowd helped the Cardinal earn its 19th shutout of the season.

In doubles, top-ranked Alice Barnes and Anne Yelsey posted an 8-3 victory over No. 31 Daniela Bercek and Jennifer Zika before Lejla Hodzic and Jessica Nguyen topped Tara Iyer and Jessi Robinson, 8-5, on court three to clinch the doubles point for Stanford. Barnes and Yelsey are now 38-3 on the year with a 23-1 mark in dual matches.

Stanford was able to sweep past Duke just before the clock hit midnight, as No. 34 Celia Durkin posted a 6-2, 6-2 victory and 11th-ranked Yelsey added a 6-3, 6-3 victory over 88th-ranked Iyer, before 10th-ranked Theresa Logar clinched the Stanford victory on court three with a 6-0, 6-4 win over No. 71 Melissa Mang.

Stanford advances to the NCAA Semifinals for the 24th time in the 25-year history of the event (the Cardinal's only loss in the quarterfinals was in 1985 when Stanford fell to Trinity (TX), 5-4).

Top-seeded Stanford will take on fourth-seeded Florida on Sunday at noon in the second semifinal (No. 3 USC and No. 7 Miami will play at 9 a.m. in the first semifinal). Florida was the last team to beat Stanford, when the Gators posted a 4-3 upset over the Cardinal in the 2003 NCAA Championship match in Gainesville.
