STANFORD, Calif.-- The Football Writer's penned David DeCastro to another All-America team as he, along with Andrew Luck were also first team selections on the ESPN.com team, both named on Saturday morning.
Of the seven teams that have been named so far, DeCastro, a redshirt junior, has been named a first team selection on all of them. For the previous three years, the offensive line has protected Luck to the tune of just 21 sacks, earning DeCastro first team accolades this year and graduated center Chase Beeler, first team honors in 2010.
No coincidence, Luck is 31-6 as a starter over the last three years, leading the Cardinal to three-straight bowl appearances, including a January 2 showdown with Oklahoma State in the Fiesta Bowl. Luck is in New York on Saturday night for the Heisman Trophy presentation, starting live on ESPN at 5 p.m. PT
The ceremony will also be streamed live at: http://espn.go.com/espn3/index?id=320276
Luck and DeCastro were among the nation's best players, according to ESPN.com.
Of DeCastro, ESPN.com noted, “Perhaps the most NFL-ready interior offensive lineman in college football, DeCastro is a pure run-blocker. At 6-foot-5, 312 pounds, he's a steamroller and the reason the Cardinal averaged 207.9 yards on the ground.”
On Luck, the world wide leader said, “From his on-field play-calling to his accuracy and arm strength, Luck is without a doubt the most complete quarterback in the country.”
