STANFORD, Calif. - The Stanford men will host California and the Japanese College All-Stars at Burnham Pavilion Saturday night at 7 p.m. The No. 4 Cardinal and No. 5 Golden Bears will meet for the fifth and final time during the regular season, having split the previous four meets.
The Cardinal is led by Eddie Penev who was named MPSF and NCAA gymnast of the week earlier this month. The three-time All-American and 2010 national champion on vault has set career highs this season in all-around, floor exercise, pommel horse, still rings and parallel bars this season. Penev leads the country on vault and ranks second in floor exercise and all-around, sixth on parallel bars and eighth on high bar.
As a team the Cardinal rank first on vault, third on high bar, fourth on floor exercise and still rings, fifth on pommel horse and seventh on parallel bars.
Gabriel Alvarado leads Stanford on pommel horse, ranking eighth nationally.
California is led by MPSF Gymnast of the Week Donothan Bailey.
The meet begins at 7 p.m. and admission is free.
