STANFORD, Calif. - The Stanford synchronized swimming team hits the road this week as it travels to San Antonio, Texas for the IUW Invitational, Feb. 18-19.
Earlier this season, Stanford defeated the University of Incarnate Word and the University of Arizona. Both meets were held at the Avery Aquatic Center on the Stanford campus.
Against Incarnate Word, Stanford claimed the top spot in the duet (Maria Koroleva and Olivia Morgan), trio (Wendy Lu, Corinne Smith and Koko Urata) and team competitions (Alex Bollaidlaw, Madison Crocker, Morgan Fuller, Jessica Guenther, Lu, Morgan, Smith and Urata).
Versus Arizona, Stanford swept the competition placing first in all four events. Senior Gayle Lee captured the solo win, while Koroleva and Morgan topped the duet category. Bollaidlaw, Koroleva and Guenther took first in the trio, while the Cardinal also defeated the Wildcats in the team event.
Up next, Stanford travels to Tucson, Ariz., for a rematch with Arizona on Saturday, Feb. 26. Following that competition is the U.S. Collegiate Nationals, held Mar. 17-19 in Buffalo, N.Y.
