STANFORD, Calif. - The Stanford women's soccer team has announced that April Wall, who has committed to attend Stanford, will join the squad this fall for the upcoming 2004-05 season. Wall will join Elizabeth George and Erica Holland in the Cardinal's newest incoming class.
"April is a very intelligent and skillful midfielder," head coach Paul Ratcliffe said. "She has the talent to make an immediate impact at the college level."
Wall, a midfielder/forward from Scottsdale, Ariz., competed for the Sereno Golden Eagles Soccer Club and will graduate from Chaparral High School. In 2003, Wall helped the Golden Eagles to an Under-17 regional and national championship. For her efforts, Wall was named the club's player of the year.
She has been a member of the Region IV ODP team for the past two years, and competed in the 2003 Texas Shootout in Houston, Texas.
Wall competed on the Catalina Foothills High School varsity soccer squad in 2000 and 2001. As a freshman, Wall was named to the all-region team and earned honorable mention all-state honors. During her sophomore season, Wall tallied 29 goals was named to the All-Arizona Team by the Arizona Republic.
Wall was also a member of the track and field team while at Catalina Foothills. She claimed the 800-meter regional title with a 2:25 clocking, and took third place in the event at the state meet (2:20.09) as a freshman.
