Stanford, Calif. - No. 15 Stanford wraps up the regular season this Sunday, April 25, with the final MPSF match versus UC Davis. The game is set for 1:00 p.m., at Laird Q. Cagan Stadium. The Cardinal (10-5, 4-1 MPSF) will look to wrap up the No. 2 seed in the MPSF tournament, while the Aggies (9-4, 2-2 MPSF) will be looking to end a 16-game losing streak versus Stanford.
The Cardinal has not lost to UC Davis since April 2, 2000, when the Aggies won in Davis, 16-13. Since that time, the Cardinal has won 16 consecutive games between the two schools, including knocking the Aggies out of the conference tournament five times.
Stanford is coming off a pair of impressive home wins over conference opponents. The Cardinal outscored Oregon and Saint Mary's by a combined score of 39-12 in last week's wins. Sarah Flynn continues to lead Stanford in scoring with 33 goals and 43 points. Claire Hubbard leads Stanford and ranks eighth nationally with 31 assists.
Annie Read has played nearly 900 minutes in goal this season and compiled a 9-5 record. She has allowed just 139 goals, compared to 140 saves. Her goals against average of 9.73 ranks 29th in the nation.
UC Davis is led by Gina Hoffmire who has scored 41 goals on the season and totaled 50 points. Alyssa Cranska has seen the majority of the time in goal for the Aggies. She is 8-4 and amassed 65 saves and a 10.03 goals against average.
The game concludes the regular season with the Cardinal taking the No. 2 seed to the MPSF tournament with a win. Denver has already clinched the top seed for the conference tournament. Stanford will be attempting to win three games in three days to take the conference tournament title and the automatic berth to the NCAA play-in game.
