STANFORD, Calif. - The Cardinal welcomes eight freshmen to the squad this year. will profile each of them throughout the season. In this edition get to know outfielder Tylyn Wells.

Nickname: Ty

A moment in my life I will always remember: Winning the 2009 18 Gold National Championship

Talent I would most like to have: To sing as well as Beyonce, Christina Aguilera, Jennifer Hudson, etc.

My parents' occupations are: My father is the executive director of a vocational college. My mother is a transaction coordinator.

Favorite napping spot: The floor of the locker room or the couches in Arrillaga Dining Hall

The perfect meal includes: Infinite amounts of southern or Creole dishes

My favorite thing about our team is: How much we care about one another, both on the field and off. We have great chemistry.

The furthest from home I have ever been is: Honolulu

The first sport I ever played was: T-Ball

The person I would most like to meet is: Michelle Obama, Tupac, Beyonce, Piers Morgan, Soledad Obrien

Superstitions/pregame rituals: I have to listen to energetic music before a game. The music gets me in the zone and helps me focus.

When I leave Stanford, I want to: Become an architect, start my own architectural firm, travel abroad, enjoy my life

Since coming to Stanford, I have learned: One can never have too much food in their dorm room

My sports hero growing up was: Natasha Watley

My earliest sports memory is: Being a stud goalie on my 1st grade soccer team

I collect: State quarters

In my off-time, I'm most likely to be found: Talking to somebody, somewhere, while eating

Something people would be surprised to know about me: I really, really, really like Wild Berry Pop-Tarts

The best thing about Stanford is: The people, both students and faculty

Least Favorite Food: Tomatoes

My favorite movie: Love and Basketball

My favorite TV show: Grey's Anatomy, Private Practice, Revenge

Favorite city: Chicago, Illinois

If I had to cook all of my meals, I'd probably survive on: Grilled cheese

The place I'd most like to visit: Almost anywhere in Africa

Hidden talent: I am a decent artist

My favorite place on the Stanford campus is: Arrillaga Dining Hall

My favorite class at Stanford has been: Introduction to African-American Studies

I'm most thankful for: My amazing family and friends

My parents were right when they told me: Life goes by fast

The reason I chose Stanford University is: The best of everything: academics, athletics, beautiful campus, colorful population, great people

I would love to trade places for a day with: Tina Fey

My funniest teammate is: Every person on the team is extremely funny in their own way

The sport I am the worst at is: Pool

The best advice I ever received was: Know what you want to accomplish, find out how to accomplish it, and do it

My biggest pet peeve is: When drivers don't use turn signals

Favorite midnight snack: So many... apples and peanut butter, cereal, grilled cheese, cheese

Stanford softball will be fun to watch this year because: We play with so much energy, emotion, and love for the game. We love to compete.
