Abolfathi, Binnie Earn Pac-12 All-Academic First Team Honors

WALNUT CREEK, Calif. - The Pac-12 All-Cademic teams were announced Monday by Commissioner Larry Scott. Stanford was well represented on the team, including two first-team members, Dersu Abolfathi and Alexander Binnie.

Abolfathi earned first team honors for the second-consecutive season. The junior started all 18 games during the 2011 season and was third on the Cardinal with three goals. Binnie was honored for the first time after seeing an expanded role in 2011. The senior from Dallas, Texas scored two goals this season, while starting nine games and seeing action in 16 contests.

Earning second team honors were Jason Dodson, Hunter Gorskie and Garrett Gunther. Dodson started 12 games and made 43 saves in 2011 as he earned second teams honors for the second-straight season. Gunther was also a second team selection last year as the 2011 All-Pac-12 first team player repeated the honor after leading Stanford in scoring with five goals. Gorskie was an honorable mention recipient last season and moved up to the second team after anchoring the Stanford defense in 2011.

Earning honorable mention horrors were Eric Anderson, Adam Jahn, JJ Koval and Adoni Levine. Anderson was a second teamer last season, while Jahn and Levine are repeat honorable mention selections. Koval is being honored for the second time.
