STANFORD, Calif. - Stanford freshman outfielder Cassandra Roulund and junior pitcher Teagan Gerhart have been named the Pac-12 Player and Pitcher of the Week for Apr. 30 - May 6, Commissioner Larry Scott announced today.
Roulund led Stanford on offense as the Cardinal picked up four wins, including a sweep of No. 14 Washington. It was just Stanford's second Pac-12 series win of the year.
Roulund hit .600 (6-for-10), including two doubles and a home run. She scored six runs, tallied eight RBI and posted a 1.100 slugging percentage. In Friday's 4-0 win over the Huskies, Roulund was 2-for-3 with one run scored and an RBI. She also recorded her first career stolen base. She was 3-for-3 in Tuesday's win over Santa Clara, driving in a season-high five runs.
Gerhart was 3-0 in the circle last week and registered her first save of the season in Saturday's win over Washington. She allowed just one run in 18.0 innings for a 0.39 ERA after entering the week with a 2.91 ERA. Gerhart posted her seventh and eighth shutouts of the year against Washington, not allowing the Huskies to score a run in 13.0 innings of work. She also picked up her 30th win of the season on Sunday, the fourth-most victories in a single season by a Stanford pitcher.
It is the fifth conference Pitcher of the Week honor for Gerhart and the second of the season. Roulund is Stanford's first Player of the Week honoree this season. The Cardinal wraps-up the Pac-12 season on the road this week at Utah.
